#1 You don’t keep the area around your computer and the room it is stored in as dust free as possible. Believe it or not, dust is the number one reason why printers fail. Your computer printer has a number of different openings in which dust can get in. The dust with then settle inside of your computer and end up ruining the small internal components. You have the keep the entire area around your computer free from dust and the room that it is stored in. Vacuum and dust frequently and make sure that you dust underneath the printer.

#2 You keep your printer sitting in a sunny window location. The sun is the second enemy of your computer and printer. Bright direct sunlight will cause your printer to heat up. Many of the sensitive internal pieces are not friendly to heat. For this same reason you want to avoid putting your inkjet printer directly by a heating vent. Humidity is also an enemy for these tiny components. The best place to store your computer is in a cool and dry room out of direct sunlight. It will help your printer to last longer.

#3 You are hard on it. A printer is a delicate piece of machinery. Although it is susceptible to paper jams and other problems, you have to be patient when trying to solve these problems. Do not shake you printer, jerk it around violently, or flip it upside down. This could result in immediate damage and render your printer completely useless.
